California's Water Restrictions, San Diego's $2.5 Billion Water Recyling Plan, and U.S Drought Monitor Map information

California Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, regarding the first mandatory water restrictions of 25 percent across the state. Adam Nagourney of the New York Times wrote an excellent article detailing the restrictions. On a related note, San Diego approved a $2.5 billion plan in late 2014 to recycle waste water into drinking water.

California is normally a bell-weather for the rest of the country. Unfortunately, drought is NOT a good thing to lead in. Much of the country, particularly in the South and West, have water issues. The U.S. Drought Monitor map details water issues across the country. It is a very informative site with Maps and Data and Supplemental Info. A sample map of New York State is here. To check your area, please go to this link.
The U.S. Drought Monitor is jointly produced by the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Map courtesy of NDMC-UNL.

Water is Life! Good luck to everyone in California and other drought affected areas!
